The National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education recognizes the importance of the MENA region's contribution to the teaching workforce-approximately 90% of all of the MENA region's new teachers are prepared in the MENA region every year. NCATE accredits many institutions within the United States both public as well as private institutions. NCATE understands that as society becomes more global and non-governmental agencies assume responsibility for Quality Assurance through accreditation, it is imperative that NCATE become partners in international initiatives.
Accreditation has long been the mechanism that strikes the balance between the regulation of government versus non governmental authority. NCATE applauds the MENA region's commitment to a teaching workforce which is diverse and excellent. and to the Universities for recruiting, developing and retaining educators who have the knowledge, skills, and professional dispositions to ensure that all students learn.
NCATE is most appreciative to H.E. Sheikh Nahayan Bin Murbarak Al Nahayan, Zayed University President for his willingness to support this very important regional meeting and international conversation.
