Interviews for Proposed Collaborative for Educator Preparation Nears End

Over the past year, Dr. Boyce C. Williams, vice president for International Relations, NCATE has been traveling throughout the Middle East and North Africa region interviewing country university officials.  She has been meeting with key stakeholders in the region in an effort to understand the national commitments to education, the interest, readiness and "goodness of fit" of the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education standards to schools of education in the Middle East and North Africa region.  Her findings will be reported to the NCATE Executive Board by NCATE president Dr. James Cibulka at its fall 2010 meeting. On her most recent trip to Jordan she met with the Minister of Higher Education & Scientific Research, Dr. Walid Maani of Jordan, the president and vice president of the Higher Education Accreditation Council, Dr. Ekhleif Tarawneh and Dr. Majed Abu-Jaber as well as Universities Presidents, Deans and representatives of the Queen Rania Teacher Academy.  She also met with Dr. Saleh Hashem, Secretary General of the Arab Universities and the Assistant Secretary General Dr. Faisal El Hag.  While in Kuwait Dr. Williams met with and interviewed Dr. Moudhi Al-Humoud, Minister of Education/Higher Education, Kuwait (pictured below).  She also visited with the president of Kuwait University, Dr. Abdullah S. Al-Fuhaid, the Dean of Education, Dr. Dr. Abdurrahman Al-Ahmad and several key University Faculty and Administrators.
